Fish and Game with State Police

Hi all, I just wanted to let you all know they are out in force. I was boarded yesterday in the Keansburg area by them. One fish and game officer with one state trooper on the vessel with him. They measured our fish, they checked all paper work, boater safety cert, salt water registy, etc. they also checked for life vests, thro ring, fire ex, flares, horn, blower, nav lights and on board fire protection. They were very nice guys, curtious and professional. I'm very happy they are out there and doing a great job. So please all make sure you are prepared when you are out there. They are out in force and it can be an expensive proposition if you are caught with your pants down. I wish you all a safe and happy season.

Probably doing the same thing your local EMS people do, patrolling and waiting for a call. NY waters on the Reach also.

Agreed! I saw a yacht inside the hook go up in flames years ago and a NYFD pumper boat was one of the first boats to respond, was there almost immediately.

They have been doing that for years. They have run on call inside SH in Spermacetti Cove. NYPD Helos have launched and been in Shrewsbury River on MayDay calls.

They must justify their existence. The more calls they run, the better for them being funded and staying in existence as a larger unit.

Fish & Game was checking fish & for salt water registration cards on the Pt. Pleasant side of Manasquan Inlet on Sunday.

On the Angler today I was telling Captain George that out of 100's of fishing trips I've been on I only saw 1 f+g officer. Got off the boat and put my stuff up on the pavement . Went to get the truck and quess what. Very pleasant young officer. Peeked in my cooler and saw my 5 fish 18+. Good thing I didn't catch 6.
