Friday day did a short afternoon trip with Keith who had the boat to himself. Went out looking around and set up on the chunk with some decent marks. We were able to put 4 bass in boat up to 20#s along with some bluefish.
Saturday morning I had Don, Jeff, and Ralph aboard to fish the Jasons Dreams Spring Bass Tournament. Left the dock at 5am loaded up the wells and went looking around. Was able to put one in the box early then had to battle with some bluefish till we gained the tide. Made a few different moves alternating from trolling spoons and live lining. was able to pick 2 more fish in the afternoon on live bunker. One fish was 24#s the other 19#s. Missed a few more that I wish we could get back, but thats all part of the game!
Sunday morning we did a repeat of Saturday and left the docks at 5am. Decided to run the beach and was greeted again by more cold water and stiff wind. Worked hard in the deep hoping for a bigger fish, only was able to come up with on 18# bass and some bluefish to show for a half day. We were still able to take 3rd in the tournament with our 19 and 24# fish from Saturday. The tournament is a great charity and is always a great time. It is a very friendly tournament with good people and a fun barbecue Sunday afternoon.
Went back out Sunday afternoon with Michaels charter and found some fish right off the bat at slack water. Lines in and had 4 nice fish hooked only to loose all 4!!! Had some bad luck and unfortunate events. One of the fish lost to a pulled hook was few feet off the stern where we were able to get a quick sight of the 30 plus# fish. After the tuff lost we re cooped and were able to put one bass in the box. Tuff night for us, but had a great group of guys that kept us laughing the entire night. I was marking a good amount of fish this weekend and I do think this bass season still has a lot more great fishing left to offer.
This week I do have Friday day and night open boat trips available. If interested please give me a call or email me for further information. Thank you, Capt. Mike
