Weather was just good enough to fish. Had my newbie buddy on the boat today slow trolling. First fish was the best. Fought him for a good 5 mins, drag screaming runs, 2 big jumps, then bulldogged me to the bottom. Got him close to the boat and it was a solid 30'brown super silvery. Newby went for the net way to early and doinked the line..heartbreaking. Waited out a thunderstorm for 30 mins and game on. First pic is 20" or so laker (hes lunch) pick 2 is 20"brown, pick 3- 24" about 4 lbs brown, Pic 4- 22" brown, pic-5 biggest landed 25"-5lb brown all released. Pic 3 and 4 had tags but we let them go fast didnt get the info. Had fish biting the whole time. You can see who were fishing for in the last pic lol. Gotta love the rain!!

Lakers are kinda goofy looking as far as trout go... no nearly as pretty as browns & brookies. Congrats on the great day on the water!

Great job. I used to fish MC a lot, but never really tried trolling. Looks like you have it mastered.

Thanks guys..IMO lakers taste great especially on the grill. They are infesting Merrill and RV so I suggest giving them a try on the table! Lets keep a good level of catch and release going on these browns though its the only way to maintain good fishing and not let Merrill become like RV. Big browns taste like crap anyway!

Interesting. I had to look on Wikipedia to see what you all were talking about.
It turns out both Brook Trout and Lake Trout are members of the Salvelinus genus.
Salvelinus is a genus of salmonid fish often called char or charr..
While Rainbow Trout belong to genus Oncorhynchus and brown Trout belong to the genus Salmo.
What they all have in common is they all belong to the family Salmonidae.

Nice catch! Its feast or famine at MC. Just before the storms are most productive. When the bite is on its on. Otherwise, it can be a long day there. The smaller lakers are a good eating fish for sure. Then again, small fish of any species are usually better eating. I was there on Monday and hooked up with a few. One took a favorite lure of mine after a lengthy battle. :(
I wana see the Trout that tried to eat the trout in the last pic.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the pic. It had a pretty wide jaw whatever it was.

May bird talons of some type . Had several trout this year display similar patterns of an attack .
