4'to 5' Seas. Might get the day off toworrow and would like to try and fluke fish with bucktails out of the highlands. Not to experinced bucktailing and was wondering if it's worth it and around what oz. will hold.

Stay in the bay and fish the channel edges. Fish were preferring killies over the bucktails this weekend. ;)

Lots of the boats stay in the bay - weather report for tomorrow in the ocean is 4-5 feet like you said, but the bay (New York Harbor) report is:

Tue: SW winds around 5 kt...becoming S late. Waves 1 ft or less...except 1 to 2 ft in S swell near the harbor entrance. Patchy fog early in the morning. Chance of showers and tstms in the afternoon. Vsby 1 to 3 nm early in the morning.

Going on a party boat so hopefully they will stay in the bay. Thx for the advice!

2- 4 oz should do you more than enough, heck even 1-1/2 cast up current and worked back would be fine as long as your using braid.

early in the year fish are sometimes sluggish and killies will outcatch the jigs. so don't get discouraged if the bucktails do not work like magic, come july & august is when they really make a difference. try a double bucktail rig or jig/teaser fish a 2-4 oz bucktail on the bottom & 6-10 inches up fish a smaller 1/4-1oz bucktail or a 3/0 hook with a 3inch glow gulp
