Every year I make a few runs to Raritan bay to catch Blues on the fly....has anyone seen any lately. It's a long run from Virginia and expensive now days so I'd appreciate any information. Didn't see much posted.

Yes the blues are in. Haven't seen the racers yet but a good amount in the 3 to 8 pound range. Cut bunker will do the trick.

What's happening with bluefish in Virginia?

The guys up here mostly complain about too many bluefish. Don't ask me why.

Don't really know except they aren't here anymore...they seem to bypass the Chess Bay. I think it's because of the Menhaden Plant in Reedsville thats striped the bay of all its food. We need to get rid of these plants. The Omega operation is distroying fishing in the bay. I just catch em and let em go. Love the fly rod action. We have some blues action in summer but usually very small. Got to go were the fish are....and help my friends in NJ with ecomony

Thanks to all for your comeback.....see you Tuesday....MY boat is the JONBEE....Grady Seafearer.....give me a shout....again thanks

Yes, every saltwater recreational angler needs to understand how important it is to stop Omega Protein from destroying what we call bunkers up here. Because the company has been slaughtering all the young menhaden in Chesapeake, the weakfish population has crashed. The Chesapeake is the Atlantic's main nursery for weakfish and those young weakfish need those young bunkers. That's why we no longer have the great fall runs of weakfish we used to have in Raritan Bay.

Good luck fishing up here.
