I know that this has been a rough coupe of weeks for the family and everyone close to mike, i have thrown the idea around to a few people very close with mike and the family and i am going to work to put something together in the coming months but i need a little help as i want EVERYONE involved, not just a few people.

I would love to get one together but i have no knowledge of starting one or running one, i am going to work with bobber on that and see if we can set something up for next year as well, because i think everyone who knew mike, met mike, or had any contact with mike, would like to see someone continue on for years and years as an annual event in his honor.

here are my thoughts, poker tournament and casino night, bring your wife and enjoy a good night of good times, several hours in a nice venue, all types of casino games and a big poker tournament, if we can't get 100 people to attend then shame on all of you :D


We will get big prizes for door prizes, and for winning just like any other casino night except this will have a little twist. I am going to say we give actual merchandise prizes compared to doing cash money prized, take all donations, minus any actual costs, and donate it all to the family at the end of the night or the next day however that would work.


I think most of us, myself included, would rather win a 600 dollar rod and reel then a few hundred bucks since the money is going to such a great cause.

I have most set up just going to snoop around for a few different venues to have it and get some pricing set up, it will be very nice and an upscale venue but will be dress as you want, the way mike would want it ( DEVILS JERSEYS ARE VERY ACCEPTABLE, AS WELL AS GRUNDENS AND FISHING BOOTS)

I have contacted Gerry ken on the Mimi vi has held mikes puosu date. Capt. Bob on the ocean explorer is doing the same. I'm going to get those dates to Gerry and Gerry said he would carry them on and incorporate some kind of benefit for mikes family. Details will follow as soon as we can.

On one of the Hunting sites they did a fundraiser for a fellow Hunter who passed in a motorcycle accident.
They used : Gofundme.com website. Just thought this might be an added fundraiser for those of us who might not be able to attend any type event, or are going to the event and would like to donate some extra money to the family.

Mike was not only one of my fishing buddies but he also sold me meat for my restaurant for many years as he did many other restaurants. I would be willing to have a night were 15% of my sales for the evening go to Mikes family. I am located in North Jersey minutes from were Mike grew up. Lets pick a night and get the ball rolling. And I'm sure if we contacted some of his other accounts they would be more than willing to do the same.

Few things I would like to mention here guys. I am doing this to help the wells family and help them financially whether they need it or not. No one going theough this should have to worry about a thing for a little while and all help is needed His name will live on, this is just or small step towards some new stuff. This is not a puoso trip to keep it going, fhis is way more imprtant, mike lived and hustled to do what he did for his family and his dogs, he has done a lot for many of us whether it be meat, crabs, friendship, or fishing pal, he has no doubt touched a ton of people. This is an inprtant cause that I am going to put a ton on the line to make happen. I did not mention that the casino night would be also a dinner and cocktails with food and fill open bar!!! I am going to put a lot of personal time into this and hope you will all help me reward the family with what they deserve!!!!

Unfortunately, once again we are short at work, so wont be seeing too many days off until at least August. But i am a carver, i do fish, decoys, birds, etc, i would definitely be willing to donate a a carving or two for raffles, auction etc. Here are a few samples. Even if I can't make it... I want to contribute .. This should be an option for all, can we get a specific fund to donate to, there's no time better than now, and I believe a lot of members have no idea what actually went down, I have some law enforcement buds, but everyone on here should know... LAB forever, will not be forgotten, wish I busted out the camera on the puosu trip, but I will never forget, he is an angel that took you under his wing immediately of course after you got a "kick in da balls" of sarcasm...it wasn't his time! I know November is a ways away. But I would use the PUOSU as a fundraiser. The Mimi and OC already saved the dates. Maybe other charter boats could do the same. Maybe have a boat against boat tournament? I just think that Mr. Wells took a lot of pride in the PUOSU and this would be the best way to remember him. And, keep this concept going for the years to come. Plus, the good thing is it would be in November and that would give people a lot of time for planning and Blackfish season would be open.

PUOSO would be a great fundraiser if you can find the boats willing to donate a full day of fishing for free including the mates working for free. PUOSO will continue on i am CERTAIN, but this is to help the family out and give them a chance to meet the people who appreciated their father/husband.

If someone wants to donate the boat for 40 people blackfishing, i would be more then happy to get it all going... But i would still like to do something else to make some extra money to help out.

There is a big difference between keeping his name alive and helping his family, mike was a family man and did what he had to do to make ends meet for his family and dogs, he did anything for anyone that needed a hand or a little advise.

I know mike would love to see PUOSU continue in his honor, but you can bet money that he would much rather see his family helped and make sure they are good and comfortable.

I can tell from past experience that this board has special/generous people who step up when a fellow board member is in need.

Mike meant alot to us and I can't imagine us failing when his family is in need.

Yup, what Murr said, I didn't know Mike well but what I did find out is how alike we and most fishermen tend to be when I met him. I'm sure we could have the best results with a dinner deal- there is Kelly's ,headliner,and Pete n eldas right in Neptune city and knowing the owners from there... Any would help out, and seems to be right in the middle from all of us. I am here , even if its golf, I would be another designated driver between water traps but anything goes... Memberships here should be revoked if you don't contribute to this one, just my opinion...I will do my damnedest to bring at least 10 who don't even know the whole deal, so should everyone else here!

Thanks for that buddy!! i am going to make it probably dinner / casino, it would all be rolled in to one, i know that dinner with raffles would be just fine, but i dont know if a bunch of people want to just get together and stare at each other, i know LAB would say FUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKK DDDDAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT.... lol so i want to make it fun since he was a good guy and something to keep everyone, including the family engaged.. I through this up before i really thought about it, but i am working on a facility now, and going to work on some other aspects and get it all put together.

I am thinking sometime in november or so... We will see how things roll!
