Hit the spot again this morning at 730. Couple guys there but gave up rather fast. Chucked the big river monster lures again. Hooked 1 fish that I fought for 2 minutes then it just came off, horrible! Hooked another fish a short time after the one that got away. Fish was digging and pulling like a beast. AMERICAN SHAD, what a great fight in the high dirty raritan. Nice day to be out. TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D

The fish I lost was something big, Striper, Tiger, big Walleye or who knows. Fought it for a while and then gone. The shad was caught on a 6 inch jointed black bomber, LOL! Silly Shad!!!

Eddie your a celebrity, I fished the exact same spot as you this afternoon for about two hours, with NO LOVE!!! Fished the muddy/clearer seam close to the wall the most with many casts across as well. I THREW chart bomber, black-silver bomber, 9 inch sluggo (looked killer), 4 inch shads- NOTHIN!
Couple of guys there mentioned the GUY FROM SIMPLE SOUTIONS who caught the tiger musky! LOL When I said you were my BUDDY, and told them you caught three in three days they couldn't believe it!!! The kid was there the one day You caught all the fish. He had a few sunnies/rockbass and a small eye today fishing worms next to the wall. I guess I need some of that SXXT that your steppin in!!!! LOL

Nice shad Eddie, looks like maybe a 5 pounder. Also looks a little different color than the Delaware shad, more green, but it may be just the picture. I think the rain gets them moving.

The closure of the fishery is in accordance with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Shad and River Herring Plan.
The people from Rutgers have been working their butts off trying to get tiny radio transmitters in the shad to determine their movements. The Moritorium had nothing to do with NJ or Rutgers, it is a National agreement.
Hopefully one day soon we will have lots and lots of shad agian in the Raritan river, till then people will be working very hard to remove dams and keep the water clean.
