kayak fishing in saltwater

Ok, I have been wondering this for some time and I figured I would ask the question- what kayak do you use in the bay and ocean? I currently have a kayak but have not ventured out of freshwater yet (I have an Emotion Temptation- not the most stable for saltwater). Being that fluke season is just around the corner, I was thinking about giving it a shot. Post opinions or feel free to pm. Fish it up!!!

Hobie seems to be the popular choice but man they cost a ton!!!

Have to agree with the Hobie. I had the Outback Mirage for a couple of years with the drive and rudder, awesome setup.

I have a Hobie Revo. It's great. The pedals enable you to hold in big currents or create your own drift in slack.

Yeah if your gonna do it. The hobie outback is it. I have a buddy who owned a outback revoand sport and he says the outback is far and away the best. And he fishes that thing harder than anyone I know he chases bass up to the 3 mile limit even popped it in the boat and jigged bfts off it.

Have a ocean kayak prowler 13,fast and very stable tracks very well,plentyof storage,lighter then most easy to load on car

2nd yak is the hobie outback,little tight in the boat,heavy as shit,doesnt paddle well at all, really meant for the pedal drive,plus is on windy days spending more time fishing then paddling

Had a prowler 13 for years and then found of a trident 11 used for a few hundred dollars.

I went smaller and lighter - and I'm 6'4" 230lbs.

Passed on the hobie due to weight and price.

Keep it simple - a paddle - cheap fishfinder - net and a pole

you can always upgrade if you find you need it.

I guess the peddle is a plus however I drop a bait all the time and paddle into the breeze to create a drift.

I have been looking for a OK Prowler or Trident to test out to see how stable it is. I am also 6'4 and heard that the hobie outback can be a bit small but peddle instead of paddle has to be a huge plus. I am just looking for something (as you said) simple to try in the bay and rivers. Thanks for all the input though.. fish it up!!
