Headed down to A.C. this morning. Broke the inlet at 630. Anchored up on some hard bottom, not stickey at all. Almost immediately rods started bending over. Was game on with 2, 3, 4 fish on at a time. At first some nice roasters came up, then some shorts of various sizes, from 8" on up to just keeper size. After the first flurry of action, you'd have to weed threw but nice size fish were coming up here and there. After a short while, captain made a short move, anchored up and said "go get em". Baits down, rods bending almost as soon as you could engage the reel. Non-stop action. I believe it was just after this second move, we were boxed up with some real nice fish in the 5, 6, 7 pound bracket. This action was repeated throughout the day. Short move, anchor up, bam, bam, bam, 2, 3 fish on at a time. We continued to play catch and release. I dropped a real good one after swinging kind of early. Another big fish lost a short while later. Near the end of the day I got the bump, bump, bam that we all look forward to, set the hook and it was game on. Got the fish about a third of the way up, he decided he wasn't ready to give up just that easy. Made a run right back down to the bottom. Managed to pull him back out and to the surface where he made several splashes. Captain waited until he calmed down, gently grabbed the leader and pulled him over the rail. Couple quick pictures, weighed in at 9 on the nose. Sent back over to live another day.
Want the thanks the guys for inviting me. Was really impressed with the boat as well as the captain. Real smooth operation. Was glad I doubled up on the 50# leader to the sinker as the line was quite cut up from being pulled back down. Really happy with my glass Fish Poison rod from Kevin Bogan. Hand tied hooks from Rich over at Jersey Hooker worked perfectly too!
Great crew, lots of laughs and ball busting, lots of friendly mugging, great weather, perfect day. Sad to see it ending in 3 days.

Friendliest mugging I've ever seen....lol. Looking forward to fishing with you guys in the future. Great time all around. Best part was Capt. Adam joking about my rod with the Mermaid decal....."should have been a blackfish decal".
Talk soon

Congrats on a trophy, Steve. We got a 10 and a 13.5 on Sunday's trip, best Spring for big fish (and numbers) I've seen in quite some time.

The catching is too good, I am not quitting, I will be playing catch and release with the toggies for the next 2 weeks. Anyone interested in coming down get in touch with me for details.
