Hello All,
Now that the seawater supply system at the Lab is fixed I'll be out "collecting" Striped Bass to augment some previously completed work related to testing the condition of fish without killing them.
SO if you hear of someone throwing live fish into coolers(mostly keepers) it would be me in our 20ft Maritime Skiff with t-top. We'll be the only boat not drinking beer:)
I started adding fish to my tanks from a trip this morning...(yes I do work weekends when I need to)
They will be on display during our Open House June 9

Tally is 23 fish in tanks so far. 24-36" Each time I go out I only bring back six fish. I leave the skates out there to get bigger:cool:

How about studying the elusive spiny dogfish? I mean those suckers are so rare and protected... ;)

Hi Freddy,
No need for now but I will take you up on your offer at some time.
We added 15 more fish today.
Russ-I'll see what I can do. Perhaps a mortality study. Any methods recommended?:)

Tally in tanks is now 46. News of the day is that really dead stinky clams work just as well as fresh alive ones! they just don't stay on the hook as well and I'm glad we weren't near another boat(that was downwind).
We did catch a fish that looked like someone took a swipe at it with a gaff and it got away. The good news is that it was still feeding. We set it back to heal some more...

Added fish #50 to out tanks from the flats off Belford last night. I think I have enough for now... saw plenty of life along the bottom on the fish finder-not sure what it was though.

Hey All,
FYI of the 50 fish I now have in tanks I had brought back 3 that had circle hooks deep in their throat. So far two have been found in the bottom of tanks.
They did not "rust out". The fish find a way to "throw" them out of their throat once the tension of a fishing line is removed.
