first bird of the year

fished yesterday in the back bay.....had the first bird of the year come over.....the robin are here!

Sometimes I think they never leave Joe. We used to catch them flounder fishing back on round shoal and on the keyport flats in early April.

Whatever the case it's always better when they beat the bluefish :)

Thanks for the report, Reel Class. We have been seeing robins on land in Brick for a couple of weeks, and there seems to be a larger variety that comes through by the thousands in early March, but the don't stay. On my creek we are happy to see the return of white egrets, and herons. This morning we saw out the window, that sandpipers are here. They come to the back bay for a short time to nest up and have their young before going to the beach for the summer. (sounds like a good lifestyle). It's really cool to see their nest raise up on the rising tide of the full moon, and settle back down in the grasses where they build it. When we see this, we know the fishing season is GameOn...Papa

My first stargazer was a shockingly educational experience.
