If the Cod Lodge is full, you can get a room in Plymouth at the Hampton Inn. They have a great cancellation policy up til 6:00 PM the day of your res.

Def going to keep this place in mind for the wifey and me. Looks real nice. I called made a ressy but when I asked about the cancellation policy, they said 72 hours and lose deposit of one night. Going w/a couple of guys so its not like we can window shop and save the day if trip get blown. Decided on the Rockland Best Western. They have a fishermans special of 105 per night. reg price is 145.00 per night, and a cancellation policy of 6 pm that night. Hampton INN was a bit pricey @ 166 per night but is closer to the water and has some nice restaurants on the water.

Thanks again.

Relentless Charters

Good Evening,

During the past six years we have been recomending the Best Western in Rockland to all of our RELENTLESS customers. It is not a JW Marriot but it is close to the highway, about 25 minutes from boat, sports pub with food across the street, good grocery store down road for cold cuts, soda, and food for trip, package store across street and a pretty good cancellation policy and rates. I intend to stop by in the next few days and cofirm with management that they still will take care of the guys who need to cancel.

If you are fishing up this way going out of Green Harbor, call us anytime to ask questions about where to stay, eat or any other areas you may need help with. Now if we could just do something about the weather.

A place that I found a couple years ago is call the Fairview Inn (http://www.thefairviewinn.com/). It's basically a bar/restaurant with about 10 rooms on the second floor. In the off-summer season the prices are reasonable. If you're really trying for low budget and pinching pennies then this is probably not the place for you. But wilth all the money we fishermen spend on our hobby, another few bucks for a nights lodging is really just a drop in the bucket. Especially when making a distance trip 5 hours away to Cape Cod.

This place has nice clean rooms, a large hang out bar and a restaurant with really good food. They are limited in space but in the off tourist season they are usually available and have let me cancel short notice on 2 occasions when the weather did not cooperate.

Anyway - just trying to help out with more info. Oh, I forgot the best part. This place is literally 2 minutes from the boat ramp at Green Harbor. All of these other places are in Plymouth and are about a 20-25 minute drive away. I don't know about you but if I'm getting up at 4am to go fishing, I want a place that is a stones throw to the boat if possible. And getting off the boat at the end of the trip - shower, food, beer - 2 minutes away.
My 2 cents - for what it's worth.

I stay at the gov Bradford in Plymouth. This puts you about 25 minutes to boat at most. Bradford close to many eating and drinking places. ;) ;) ;)

I saw Capt Jim's post that's why I was surprised when he told me he's only booking his charter clients. Thanks for the update.

The pub across the street from the hotel actually is pretty good. Just don't wear a Yankees hat or a Giants hat.

Gentleman,

There are plenty of places and thanks for mentioning the Fairview Inn, they have a great pub and restaurant with excellent food. Even though this may not be the place for everyone Doug's points are right on. I will tell everyone this DO NOT BOOK THE MARSHFIELD INN. If you do and fish on Relentless than please don't tell me how bad it is because I am warning you now. Some of my clients like it however most find it disgusting.

Also for food many of you have eaten at Hadad's and now they have expanded the size of their building and lounge with the same excellent food. There is also food at the marina restaurant also which is called the upper deck. Tuesday can not come fast enough for the first charter that we can retain cod. We had to cancel Vinny's trip today but definately a good call with the weather conditions.

Have a good day.

Respectfully'

Dave

Just want to clarify. When I did a Google search for Cod Lodge, Big Fish II Charters came up and it appeared to be the COD Lodge website. So I called the phone number for what I thought was the Cod Lodge it was actually Big Fish II Charters and that is the reason I was told he was booking the Cod lodge only his clients. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
