So I go to check out my local Sports Authority after their months long remodel...

They no longer have a fishing department.

Where it once stood is a golf department complete with fake grass.

Needless to say, I was thoroughly disappointed. Their fishing department wasn't much to begin with, but I would sometimes stop in for a few sundries, and it was always fun seeing if they had anything on clearance. Is this just unique to the store in West Long Branch by me, or has anyone else noticed this?

LA...think it's for all stores--the one down here in Montgomeryville, Pa did the same thing a while back...

I will have to check the Hazlet store tomorrow. I have some gift cards to redeem.

As good as can be with the crappy weather lately. Been trying for some early season bass, but the wind has been shutting everything down. By now things have usually busted wide open. Next week looks good to get the fish going!

I will check the one in Iselin and Piscataway. I too loved seeins what was on clearance there. I wanted to get a couple of beater surf reels so I picked up a Quantum Bluerunner for 14 bucks once. Their selection is always garbage and their non-clearance prices for fishing were comically high but still fun to walk through once or twice.

The one by me is completely useless when it comes to fishing tackle.. The fishing section is a joke.. its like the smallest section all the way in the back that has NOTHING!

Its for all stores. They are phasing them out slowly. Brick is the only one left in the immediate area. By brother in-law is a manager for them.

East Brunswick and Iselin nj still have the, and are not planning on getting rid of them yet according to their managers. The Piscataway fishing department is closed though.

When the local guys dont have exactly what you want/need, my go to is Dicks Sporting Goods! (almost just said Dicks but I realized major flamming was to be had, haha) Plus you can find store gift cards on flebay...

Maybe I picked the wrong time of year but last 2 times(the only times) I went to Dick's Sporting, the selection was really poor--what there was of it---do the local thing when I get to the shore;) :) :)
