I have braid on a couple of my striper rods that I use for trolling Stretch 25's. Should I add a floro leader? What about when using Crocs or Ava's? I don't know how line shy they are.
Thanks!!

I add florocarbon or mono with a uni to uni knot to all my reels using braid. Reason being when you hang up in any structure, you can break it out....instead of cutting line at the reel. In deep water you will save a lot. Catch ém up......Papa

Sorry DoubleG, I should add that the floro/mono only has to be the length of the rod............Papa

I run a top shot.. Usually around 7-10feet of mono tied to the braid using an albright knot..

The main ingredient in adding a flour ld to braid is to double your braid & use this as a nuculeus for a better knot !
I always Bimini mine , then wrap floro around braid using the reverse Albright minimum 10 wraps ! Wear gloves to tighten properly tales about 30 seconds to tie knot !

I think Flouro can be overkill for about 75% of the fishing we do here in Jersey, but thats just my 2 cents! Whenever trolling, you always want that stretch for a better hook set. Trolling braid will end with too many pull outs.
Mono, flouro, will give you a better hook set, due to the stretch. No stretch on the troll is tough! You will come back with fish lips..... :D
