Hey Guys

We will be in Kona fo 5 days in July and will hopefully fish two of those days.
Prefer bait fishing and jigging and popping. Hopefully troll for the wahoo when heading to spots. Any recommendations or leads would be much appreciated. Really want to catch fish and not just go for a boat ride. Got burned in Cabo and don't want that to happen again.

Thanks a bunch
Bobby

Check in with Dave Kool. He can hook you up with Wally Backman.

Try calling the Melton tackle down there. The last time I was there my fishing trip sucked so I went into there to buy something to cheer myself up and started talking to the owner he seemed like a great guy. He told me the next time I come down call him up and he will get me on a good boat

Melton is no longer their . I went with kevin nakamaru on northern lights. He busted his ass for me compared to the rest of the charter fleet. He left to grt live bait at 4 am and pick me up at 6 am and got back at 5 pm. Most boats leave at 8 and are back by three. He knew that i wasnt just a tourist and wanted to fish hard for two days. Nothing but great things to say abiut him. Price for the whole boat just me and my wife was the same as a bass charter here.

I've been fishing Kona since 1986 and still one of the BEST Captains is Dale Leveron on the Sea Strike. He runs a 31' Bertram out of the city pier right in front of the King Kama Maya

Have fun and tell Dale I said Hi.
