Bailed Out

Any feedback on the new Quantum 40 Boca reel? I’m deciding between that or the new Penn Spinfisher. I picked up a new Bogan rod at the Somerset show for throwing plugs from the boat and I’m looking for something not too heavybut strong enough to handle blues/stripers.

Hi bailed out --just had the opportunity to see the new boca---AWESOME!! is all i can say. My dad sent in the older boca for cleaning and greasing and a bail issue..asked about upgrading to new model instead..after some back and forth they said yes..they fixed any old issues with the boca/cabo (handle --line lay) and made a really good real great.
I do wonder though if the 40 size is too small for your use...maybe the 50?
In that price range --i havent seen the new spinfisher (PENN SS) but if its better than the battle and close to the conquer --PENN has a real winner.
The cabo will be lighter though for throwing.

I have the Boca 40 reel and can't say anything bad about it. I have had no issues with it, good retrieve, smoothe wind on the reel. I'm also a fan of Penn products but haven't tried the new Spinfisher series.

I LOVE my Boca 40, I actually own two of them! It’s my go-to spinning reel for everything from fluke/blues/bass to even wreck fishing when my conventional setup broke. Has plenty of power for anything we do inshore, I think the 50 is overkill. Had a 50 and sold it within a month.

I've had a Boca 40 for about 6 years and use it all the time when I fish plugs in the rivers day and night. Use it a lot and have had no problems pulling in bass and fluke.... :D
