Keansburg Pier, Spyhouse Pier?

anyone with info on the extent of damage to keansburg pier or spyhouse pier from sandy? I heard keansburg was destroyed, but did not hear anything on spy house pier....any info on rebuilding/reopening for either if closed?

Spy-house pier is gone.

Not that I would give the county much credit for forward thinking but I have to hope they are going to wait and see what they are going to do with the millions they just got for flood abatement in Port Monmouth, before they do anything with the pier.

I enjoyed the pier prior to getting the boat... hopefully they rebuild.

Selfishly, since my home port is right there, I'm curious where all those boards went.

Recently heard from a reliable source;
Half the pier may be open this season while the other half is being repaired. It's still uncertain because they are concerned about noise from the work taking place. That's the most I heard.

This is what is posted on the Keansburg Fishing Piers website:

NOTICE

To ALL FISHERMEN

We have great news!

Work will begin this week, April 8th to rebuild the pier. The pier will be partially open as the work progresses. The first phase is expected to be open for fishing in late Spring of this year.

Please continue to check back for up-to-date information on the progress and for the anticipated opening day as it approaches.

Thank you for your continued patronage. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Spyhouse pier to be rebuilt and extended further out due to beach replenishment.Appears replenishment will start sometime in 2014.Don't know if damaged existing pier will be rebuilt sooner.

Where did you hear the info re the Spyhouse pier ?

Hope when they do rebuild it, they make it a T shaped pier.
