View Full Version : Hi Mar Flea Market this Sat 2/15 (Fundraiser)
Have elderly lady neighbor of mine who is 70 + years young. Recently found out that she fell down the stairs and hurt herself very badly and is having difficulty getting around. She is the primary caregiver to her 90 + year old mother who is bed ridden and needs care 24/7. Being she can not get around very well she needs help both taking care of herself as well as her mom. She has no family to help so I must help her out as she is truly a wonderful person that always is helping others. I have helped some but she needs to get an aid in her home to help them out while she recovers. She is on a limited income and can not afford to hire someone. I have decided that i would raise some money to help her out and pay for an aid myself.
I will be getting a table at the Hi Mar show and will be selling alot of my fishing stuff as money I make will go directly to her. I will hate to see some of this stuff go but I will get alot more out of helping her out then I would fishing this gear. It can always be replaced. I will have alot of
Rods (new, used, customs), Reels, Tackle, coolers, clothing etc. Going to clear out the basement. Will be alot of good stuff to pick through. I will be at table 108 so stop by and say hello and spend a few bucks for a good cause

Bravo Alex! As soon as you arrive Saturday am, FIND ME! I'm not sure if I can do it but I'm trying to wiggle a little more space for you... Robby
Thanks to all who responded or sent pm's. Do not no who would not help elderly lady like this as she has spent her life helping others without asking anything in return. Now that I have gotten to no her better and see what she has done for everyone around her and the condition she is in with no one really to help her i feel it is my duty to step up to the plate on her behalf. She is truly a special person. It blows me away how people in this country take advantage of the elderly especially in their time of need. I for one will not let this happen.
One of the reason this site is so special is when someone is in need people just come out of the woodwork to help in some way even though they have their own issues to deal with.
* Capt Lou Truppi donated 2 tables for me to use for this event at no cost to me.
* Kevin Bogan offered to build custom Fish Poison Fluke Rod to me with winners name on it for me to Raffle off
* Our fearless leader Gerry and resident blackfishing hack volunteered to donate some items to sell and donate proceeds. Sorry could not resist
All of these guys did this in the background not looking for attention but rather just wanting to help. I basically live my life now by helping others without expecting anything in return. If you help others get what they want you will be a rich man in the long run as long as you have their best intentions in mind and not your own. Not looking to be the Tony Robbins of NJFishing but it will truly change your life when you live buy these rules.
Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones on Saturday. Have alot of good stuff if I could find the time to get things all together in time for Saturday.
Whatever money I make from sales I am personally going to match. Hoping to raise $2500 dollars so I can get her an aide to help out for at least 2 months and help her pay some bills.
Will be heading Ssouth in search of TOGASAURAS on Friday as needed to get a day for myseld. If someone needs to reach me try my on the phone as I will be getting home late friday

Alex.. How much did you end up with?
Total raised so far from Sat was $738
What can i say but thanks to all who came by to help. The guys from Hi- Mar were Awsome. I will post a seperate report with full update when i get a chance. I sold alot of my stuff even my favorite custom cod rod that is first rod I ever built. Custom Honey Lami. Can not believe i sold it but money rasied helped soften the blow as i know money from it is going to a great cause. Will need to replace at some point. Recieved donations from members i knew and total strangers who just heard about what i was trying to do was awesome. Really makes you feel good when you do something good for others. IF anyone wants to donate to my paypal account my email for that account is cortizoalex@yahoo.com or send check to contact info below. Anyone who donates money will get their names entered into raffle for Custom Fluke Rod by Kevin Bogan. I think i will do $20 bucks donation for each entry or 3 for $50 bucks. Anyone who previously donated money prior to this post will automatically be entered. I will announce the winner opening day of fluke season. As mentioned i will update on progress and post some pictures as long as she allows me to.

Alex,
Just got a chance to read through thread and sent you a donation.
I think we have fished together, I am a friend of Blackfish Doug.
As are you. Nice gesture!
Andrew
Andrew thank you so much for the generous donation. Money will be going for a great cause
Just wanted to keep everyone up to date on fundraiser for elderly neighbor who was in need. Want to thank everyone who participated and either bought some fishing gear or donated money or items for sale. Both she and her mother are doing well and are grateful for all the help and well wishes. Last thing left to do is raffle off the Custom Kevin Bogan Fluke rod that i will draw next week and contact the winner. If you are still interested in purchasing a raffle ticket you have until Sunday midnight to do so by either contacting me directly or making purchase through Paypal. 20 Dollars a ticket or 5 for $50 bucks. IF you want any additional features added to the custom rod that Kevin is so generously donating I will pay whatever the upcharge is for the additional work if so desired. Everyone who made donation or bought something at Flea Market will get an entry for rod. Enclosed is my contact info.
