Was planning on fishing Sunday, but something came up, so Joey da fish and I hit the Mad Gaffer today.
To say it was cold is an understatement! I knew Joey was in trouble when I saw him in white summer boots:eek:! Joey, no white after labor day:D. It doesn't need to be said that by 10:00 he could not feel his feet! It was brutal early, and the fishing wasn't much better. Ray took us to the right spot, we were just there on the wrong day. Lots O current and very few bites after the blow:(. Kudos to Ray for making the run with a light crew on board, thanks for the effort!
Joey did manage to catch a couple of blackies. even finding a keeper. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut, even a broken clock is right twice a day (must I go on):D. He got the dollar bill fish, and a handshake for the largest (15 inches) fish. Joe, when you get a chance, please delete my number from your phone! Only kidding, always a pleasure!
Ray did his best, the fish just did not want to chew, we did end up putting enough ling in the basket for some super bowl sandwiches.
lots of laughs and it was nice to just get out, although my new rule of thumb will be a minimum temp. of 35*!
hope to try again next weekend!
