Heading down to Isla Mujeres Feb 8-11 for a quick weekend of fishing. Not interested in going off shore trolling. Would prefer some type of jigging or popping or bottom fishing for meat. Anyone have any experience in this area? Thanks.

Go down to the docks in town and find a local nothing fancy but you will catch fish same for snorkeling. I used a guy named Lorenzo he brings everything you need even beer

Doug - I have never been there, but a charter captain that I have used out of Pirates Cove in the Outer Banks takes his boat down there each year. That captain is Dennis Endee, the boat is A-Salt Weapon. Very nice guy, good captain, works hard for his charters.

Good luck!

Thanks guys - I'm looking to do some deep water jigging for AJs and maybe a Wahoo.
Pete - I'll call you tomorrow.

Dan - Are you heading to NC on the Canyon Runner at all?

akumal fishing village is 70 miles south of cancun. go there and there will be panga's ready and willing to take you a few miles and fish very deep water. winter is best for tuna. we fished in june and had as many red snapper as you cared for. FUN!
