My work, family obligation and weather window is rapidly closing for Sea Bass and I am going on a NS in Wildwood for Sea Bass/Tile Sunday Night, fishing Monday.
I would have preferred to go out from Pt Pleasant but no one is sailing Monday.
If anyone wants to fish this trip and ride down with me from North Jersey let me know.
Good luck, Jon! Catch em up! :D

Just got back home. 145 Miles back home after we hit the dock.
I was off my game with the Sea Bass today. I got cut off and lost 200 feet of braid and my rig, then lost my topshot, all while bite was red hot around me. Came up short of my limit but that's fishing.
When I got back in the groove the Dogs moved in . My rig was clean of any bling but they still kept biting. They chewed through a few rigs and I had to re-tie. Came up short of my Sea Bass limit was it was a combo trip and we were done Sea Bassing at 10 am. Also caught a few 10 lb class Bluefish. Just had a peice that I sauteed with some Salt and Pepper. If you bleed it, fresh Bluefish is delicious. No Porgies, Cod or Pollack caught, although I did see a Ling.
We then took and hour plus ride further out for the Tilefish. Conditions got sloppy and current was ripping. We drifted and fished Port side. I was using 3 lbs and was having to let out line to hold bottom. I caught 4 Blue Lines. A bunch of Golden Tiles also came up buy none for me. A sharpie a few spots down caught at least 6 Goldens, including the Pool winner.
Ride back in was 5 plus hours in reall rough seas. 10 footers a few seconds apart. I was in a bunk on the top deck behind the wheelhouse and we had waves hitting the side of the structure.
Nice trip but wish I had about an hour more Sea Bass time. Good boat, crew and bunch of anglers.
Sorry, no pics.

Nice honest report Jon! You get them next time buddy! Just curious, did someone cut your line? That is a lot line to lose at one time if not cut.

Jay- Thanks. I try to keep the reports honest, warts and all.
the guy next to me tangled on my line while I had a fish or 2, so it was under tension and I was a few feet off of the bottom. The mate untangled the guys rig and when he was done I had no line. It may have broken from the tension. One minute I saw my line in the water and then it was gone. I don't think anyone did it on purpose.

Glad to hear you guys did get out to the tiles, with that weather I was not so optomistic. You did the best you could. Goldens LOVE fresh bluefish!! Gotta have that back up rod/reel ready!! I am sure you got plenty of good eats!

Thanks for reporting and keeping it real. Definitely want a backup rod/reel for those trips. I also usually bring my tacklebox with bulk braid and leader material in case I would need to reline a reel in an emergency. I'm thinking the full moon has the fishing messed up a little right now. Things should settle down after the blow.;)

Jon, tough tile conditions in the afternoon but I got real lucky.... courtesy of REAL SEAT custom mylar squid & skirted tilefish rig... Thx Dave :D... Missed the pool by pound.
I had a blue line and this golden, my father had both bluelines & goldens. I was dropping 43 oz and this was running straight out in 400ft... Overall good trip even in the nasty slop & 35+ winds.

Nice Fish Vinny.
I noticed the fancier Tilefish rigs produced better. I used a hand tied rig with glow-squid I couldn't hook up with the circles but got 4 Bluelines when I moved to the J Hooks.
I will be better prepared next time, that is for sure.:)
I knew you looked familiar. I am pretty sure we fished together up North. I was in the upper bunk area with you and you found my missing sneaker. I will say hi next time I see you.
