Thanks for all the guys who recommended the Gulfstream III as the best head boat in Key West. Just got back after fishing 4 days on the Gulfstream last week. Good boat. Terrific crew. Came back to NJ with lots of good reef fish.
The equipment on the boat is pretty good for a head boat. They have both spinners and bait casting rods. But of course you'll do better with your own stuff.
If you want to do Yellowtailing, use long 12 pound flourocarbon leader. The boat carries the right jigs for this (about 1/4 ounce).
The boat supplies 4/0 mustad with egg sinker. They rig it as a knocker rig. I used 2/0 but needed a bead to keep the hook eye from running up into the egg sinker.
