Sailed open boat with about 15 people. Conditions were good, not the 5' originally predicted. The wind was there but only gusting to 15-17 where we were. Got set up and there was lots of life on the first drop. Some "keepa size" and shorts around the boat to keep things interesting. Things slowed up around 11AM or so. Had 1 keeper at that point.

Made a move and that was kind of slow so Kenny made another move and that turned into a decent bite. With not many people on board you were able to skate around to whenever there were fish coming up. Wind died out in the afternoon as predicted and Kenny had to reposition us.

Good to fish with SaltLife who caught his limit. I ended with 2 keepers and a bunch of shorts. Bunch of limits on the boat, some with one or none but overall a great day out there. I wasn't watching to see if the mate was fishing  but Chris was always there if needed...as usual. Pool winner was around 8 lbs taken late afternoon from the spot I fished most of the morning :( Great day on the Mimi as usual.

This was my first trip of the year. Didn't really seem to matter as far as crabs, whites or greens. Some bites were good, some were scratch, scratch, wait, bump, bump. The 5 keeper size ones I pulled up were all caught on a whole whitelegger with just the front claws removed. Used 8oz. all day but you probably could have used 6. Fished the bow all day, jumped around to both sides as there was plenty of room. And as usual, Kenny and Chris, always giving you advice.
Despite suffering from this seasonal sinus congestion, I always have a great time fishing on this boat. Myself and Jimmy had our limits along with several shorts. Before walking off the boat, I looked up to Capt. Ken and said "pleasure fishing with you".

That's a good honest report Bill. Nice job with the tog. I am still in awe of how some guys just catch'em and others struggle(like myself). One of these days I'll figure it out. I know it takes time on the water. That day will come soon enough.:D

Me too Dan. After my terrible day on first part of PUOSU 5 back in Dec it was great to feel life at the other end for a good chunk of the day. Let me know if you're up for another trip soon.

I'm signed up for sea bass trips on the Voyager on 1/15 and the Gambler on 2/2. Need to rebuild the confidence on some easier prey. Sea bass always bite good for me compared to tog. There are openings, you guys should all jump on that Gambler trip. That's going to be a good one! Voyager has 8 open spots for that 1/15 trip as well.:D
