I hit the ice again today and landed a new PB pike. It was 43" and 22+ pounds. Caught her around 11:00 in the morning in 5' of water on a big dead fallfish. I'm off to a great start this ice season!

Saxmatt, have you ever caught a fish that was too big for the drilled hole? That pike seemed damn close.

There was some wiggle room. I've never had a fish that wouldn't fit through the hole, but I've caught a bunch of carp open water that wouldn't fit which is one of the reasons I don't target them through the ice. My buddy Rich had a tiger that wouldn't fit through an 8" hole up in New England. He went to grab his auger to drill another hole next to it but the fish got off.

NICE fish Matt! I still have that rig you gave me when we fished together, and went out and got all the material to make up my own, which i used on Sat at Monksville, but no takers. I'm now officially ready to try my hand at pike, with the proper gear.
