So i posted a thread a few weeks ago about a few large fish I've hooked but wasn't able to get them in. Welp i finally did and barely at that! I was tossing up either to try and pull some pike out of the passaic or try this spot I was defeated at pretty much two times in a row. Well after throwin the some larger jigs and what not i decided to downgrade and threw a 1/4 ounce black/blue swim jig with a chigger craw trailer. It was a slightly different approach than I normally try but basically I just dragged it along the bottom veryyy slow. I lost a few jigs working it like that on debris and what not, but was finally rewarded with this slob below. It really didn't fight much at all but wasn't easy to land. pretty much got two big head shakes and that was it from him.

Looks like you made the right choice! Way to be persistant, If you know they are there gotta keep working it and sooner or later your gonna get bit and land em'. Give you alot of credit, as i am also a bass guy but haven't fished for them in a while cause i've been chasing stripes and eyes! We'd fish and catch bass when water temps were around 39 degrees and still have decent days but had to fish long days with slow moving baits! When you got bit you had to stick em' cause they were usually only a couple a day but when you threw in a few perch, crappies, and pics it made the day out on the water! Nice winter Fattie!!!!!

I agree with that one for sure ive hooked this fish twice before and it seemed to just pop off. I was going to either brake my rod or hook the fish and I won this time lol. If anyone has an open spot on there boat and is going out for eyes I wouldn't agrue joining what so ever Haha. You have to work these fish though real subtle bites and are quick to drop it. Lost another one on after that but spit it real quick.

Winter is a very interesting time to fish for bass. Chances are you won't get many bites, but each one could be a PB. Way to go!

I was worried I gut hooked him when I first saw but it turned out it was barely hooked at all go figure haha. After a few pictures and weight he swam away real strong to get bigger. Believe it or not my biggest bass have come in the most strangest times. My PB smallie was on a scorching hot august day on topwater and largemouth in over 100* air temps in shallow water on a similar presentation. What I haven't found yet is a warm water oulet somewhere such as a powerplant but those are hard to come by around here. Anyone have any info on something like that and please no need to spot burn just a general area or even town for that matter would be great.
