Had yesterday off and decided to do some low-impact fishing at the Valley. Wind blew pretty steadily and the sun was out the whole time but I matched my previous best with 5 trout caught and released on the day. I also had what I assumed was a pickerel saw me off, a quick bump and then my lure was gone and the 4 LBS test was nicely cut.

Some pics on the day, caught my first ever trout on Powerwait too but they were all over the 2" swimbaits I like to use.

Thanks Eddie. I've endured many a skunk there so at some point it sort of balances out. I talked to a guy already set up when I parked and he had 4 on the day. Seems like the recent state stockees are biting.

I did see a big golden trout cruise by too but he didn't stick around.

Nice fish, been wanting to get over to RVR to try for some of those trout off the shore. I like to fish with my float rod and a bobber any suggestion on bait?

Shiners work really well with a bobber there. Unfortunately with Lebanon B&T closing down I don't know where you can get any nearby.

Andy; I may have confused myself on the state stocking. Wilson posted a link a short time back that the state stocked lakes with trout for the winter and I may have assumed RVR was part of that. In any case they're biting!

There, yesterday, 11/25,.............caught on a Yo Zuri Magnet Minnow, & released,.....6 similarly sized browns.

Lost 3 others,.....one of which, was bigger.

Also, C & R'ed, a 10" smallie.

I know that spot! I fished there the day after Sandy and caught a bow on a Rat-L-trap in crawfish pattern. Fish was spitting up lots of shrimp. Nice catch!

I know that spot!

Ssshhhh.. :p

It looked very different back there after Sandy and not for the reasons I would have suspected. I figured trees would be down but the 5" ledge where the water goes up to is now a 4' wall. There must have been some serious waves to take away that much shoreline.

I had my tripod/camera on the wall for the pics, I usually have to crouch for the auto-timer but this time I got to stand. lol
