Fished good old Monksville for Walleye today. Jigged my a$$ of and fought strong winds all day but no 'eyes. At about 6pm, I needed to break the skunk before packing it in so I threw on a Mepps #4, just trying to get a Pickerel (yet to catch one this year somehow). 2nd cast had this gorgeous little guy hit it off a still green/living weedbed. Planned on doing the Walleye thing all day, so I had none of my Muskie lures in the kayak with me  . At least I know where to find them next time lol.

Nice little guy. Sure beats getting the skunk after a long day of fishing!

Skunk....That actually looks like a lure you would use to catch those Pike you usually catch in the river!:D Really cool looking little guy. Looks like someone put those spots on with an airbrush.....nice pic.

Yes, Humminbird 170. Pretty basic compared to whats out there (and what I really want), but I did pick up some fish on the bottom. Even knowing this lake, having navionics, and an old map from when it was filled, its still tough there. Water temp was 58 degrees.

I picked that up for the River lol. Was hoping it was tasty enough for a chunky Pic.

im no expert, but ive found that non aggressive walleyes wont really mess w jigs unless u hit em in the head w it, but feeding eyes will nail them. I prefer to bottom bounce worm harnesses w spinner rigs while trolling, it works well. also dropper rig w a live herring drifted over marked fish will make a full walleye eat, I know this for a fact. jiggin is great if you have advanced electronics and gps, to mark a fish and try to stay near it and jig it is very tough unless theres a school and u can keep track of em.

Coool lil musky. Nice way to end the day. Still no eyes out of there Skunk? They gotta be on the chew now. I havnt fished there in 2 years for the Eyes but they should have the feed bags on by now. The last time I got em there was in december and I didnt have to go far, 30 yards off the south boat launch, right on the ledge. Work that ledge up toward the sunken island. I was using a 1/4 oz silver Binsky.

Those binsky's are great for jigging just about anything from the bottom in cold water. Went out with a guide last Novemeber down in VA and fished the Rappahonock and the Potomac sytems. Dropped them in 10 to 30 feet of water and jigged them off the bottom. Caught Large Mouth, Small Mouth, Crappie and even a Carp doing that. I thought the Carp must have been foul hooked but it was right in the corner of his mouth when I finally got him in the boat.

I agree, it looks like an airbrushed lure. Heck, I'd buy one!

I caught and released a muskellunge in Carnegie Lake this week with a 1/32 oz leadhead jig and 1" twister tail on 2 lb test line. Pic wouldn't load so I'll try a link instead. http://s865.beta.photobucket.com/user/NJ219bands/media/Image10242012164212.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1

Thats promising....Given enough time and proper handling i would imagine that a musky could grow to a gr8 size in carnegie....I used to fish it ALOT and there is NO shortage of esox food in that place...Biggest slime dart i got there was a couple years ago , two feet from the boat on a jig and pig....Scared the crap outta me as i was'nt expecting it...Bout a 22"er...Nice pic!!
