Two things that differ on wreck anchors as opposed to regular anchors.
1) Wreck anchors have tines instead of flukes. Picture them like ribs of an umbrealla which hook up on the rough bottom. If you get the tines stuck in the wreck, they are soft enough to bend so you can get the anchor back and then bend them back into shape.
2) Most wreck anchors also have loops where the tines meet where the point of the umbrealla whould be. You attach your anchor line to it with a shackle. The other side of the anchor also has a loop in it where you put a zip tie through and wrap it around the rope leading from the loop at the tine end. When you go to pull the anchor the zip tie breaks and you are now pulling it from the tine end which makes it easier to get out of the rough stuff.

These anchors work GREAT! I have been using Joes anchors for the last three seasons and they work like a charm. They hold my 34' Pursuit which weighs well over 15,000 pounds in some pretty snotty conditions without a problem. I do have to use a bunch of zip ties when it's really rough but thats to be expected.
