My friends have been telling me about a good smallie bite going on the Susqy. Because of changed plans I was able to make the trip on Sunday. We started out with a lot of fog and clouds. This was a big advantage since it keep the top water bite going. This was the best day that I have had for big fish. I caught around 30 and there were only 2 fish under 16"s. In one 200 yard streach I had 9 fish between 18-19" in 30 minutes. I also managed to get 2 brutes that were over 20" and around 5#s. These fish are unbelievable fat and active. All but one fish were caught on top water and the strikes were amazing. Many fish missing the lure 2,3,4 times and still crashing on it. Fish leaping from the water 2' away and landing on the lure. The fish were very shallow and you could often see their wake as they came for the lure. Many of these fish were leapers, coming out of the water 5 or 6 times. I did not run into any wolf packs and it was not an all out crazy bite, but that many big fish on topwater. PRICELESS!!!!!

Yes. The trip before I caught a ton of small bass. It looks like it is working.

Awesome trip Eric. Only fished the Susqy once in torrential rain with the wife....it was still a good trip and we caught a good amount of fish. nothing like your day but definitely want to get back there again.
