Fished a good stretch of the North Branch on Saturday decently upstream from the rt 22 bridge--targeting smallmouth. After all was said and done, myself and a friend waded a good 4-5 miles of water. Water was SKINNY throughout most of the river we fished. The holes we hit held fish and 85% of them were dinks. Good to see but I wanted the source! Where was their momma hiding?!?! We probably had 25-30 fish between the 2 of us. I was throwing 4" Gulp Crawlers in watermelon pearl most of the day and prob doubled what my buddy caught. He was using 4" and 5" senkos looking for that one "day maker". I lost one nice fish in a pretty deep hole. Had trouble turning him with 4 lb test and he rocked me up. Tried waiting her out but no such luck. Also saw a few really good sized fish in a handful of spots--one actually attacked one of the dinks I was reeling in. Couldnt get the hawgs to commit to anything artificial and we didnt have bait until much later in the day (I was flippin' rocks and finding some good sized mud bugs, which didnt work!!!). We also had a handful of small large mouth mixed in too. All in all, a good day. We set out targeting smallies and got what we went for--just nothing sizable. If anyone has some pointers on where some thicker specimens dwell, I'm all ears!! :)

A buddy and I hit the NB downstream of the Railroad Bridge that is just up from North Branch Park Friday night for about an hour and a half. Same situation....throwing 4" green pumpkin Senkos catching a bunch of little guys. I managed one really nice 3 to 3.5 lb fish measured 18.5" but that was all for the bigger fish. There is soome great looking water there between the power lines and the bridge but we couldn't find them there either.
