Not sure if anyone saw the fisherman this week but they had a photo of some guys releasing a Great Whiteand I heard via the social media scene a sponsor today witnessed some air jaws action while on the way in from fluking. Anyone else have any run ins this summer? Always has been my dream at sea to see a great white maybe I do not have to go to South Africa after all!

Let's do this. If we so happen to have a 130 out with a tuna carcass and 20/0 hooks while drifting fluke it might just happen. I'm ready. Can't fish for em but if they are hooked you can't help it

Are you Joe Biden? "Great honky"? It was probably meant to be funny, but what does it say about the shark?

We saw what we thought was a white in the middle of the mud hole ling fishing.... The beast was an easy 10-12' and had that ragged dorsal that whites have.

I had a school of cobia by the side of my boat yesterday while fluke fishing.. the water is amazingly tropical..... also whites have been known to come to our waters ...often caught and mistaken as a mako .... Young whites have been caught and released by the sea girt reef .....in the early 80's i remember a inshore dragger bringing in a very large white (b4 they were protected) to shark river... you never kno what will come out of our waters

Heading out to the Scotland Grounds 2 years ago I saw a fin of a large fish in the middle of Sandy Hook Channel. Slowed down and pulled right next to what was about a 12 ft White Shark, I was no more than a few miles off the swim beach. Took pictures and even video of this GW that was swimming very slowly around my boat. I even posted some of the pics here in which most agreed its was a small Great White. A few hours later a whale swam by and I realized why the GW was in the area! Yes ... they are out there... no doubt!

Yeah this year is nuts. The amount of blue water life I've seen inshore this year is fantastic. Very cool to see everyday. We have already seen a school of bluefin ripping water, Mahis all over, turtles, cobia, porpoise, whale, tuna chicks are everywhere, head boats are catching yellowfins and now a white shark today. If I were to guess it was probably around 12-15ft atleast. Came completely airborne. About 30yrds away. Very cool.

i saw a hammerhead in delaware bay when i was a kid and a tiger in the ragusa canyon as a teen now i need to see a great white in my twenties. I remember now jerry and wayno had a white try to eat a fluke a few years ago too, just think it be such an awesome sight to see . i mean i am an apex land predator and they are the apex oceanic predator we could share stories of eating sea lions.Kris did you see any blues or albies or anything jumping or on the screen? just wondering what it was eating

I doubt a 12-15 foot great white like he saw is going to eat bluefish very often. I believe they typically eat porpoise, sea lions, whale calves, dead whales etc. I think chasing around small fish like blues and false albacore would be wasted energy. I am certainly not a marine biologist, but if adult sized great whites are hanging inshore they could be eating ocean sunfish and porpoise. I thought they typically liked cooler water, and once it got into the 70's they split.

thats what i was thinking too you do not get big by expending energy (see pofile pic) but it wouldn't be around without a food source, bluefins maybe? seaside bathers?

We had a small 5-6 white grab a fluke on the axle a few years back. My friend hooked one (maybe the same fish) in the same area and fought him to the bought only to realize it was a white  Small guys but I'm sure mama is around too. I saw a monster sharking once but they definitely come inshore for some reason in summer, just not sure what.
Not too far off of Sandy Hook is reported to be a great white nursery. That would explain it.

Last year out near the glory we stopped to look at and mess with a group of triggers hanging under a log…Only to see an enormous great white at least 15 feet plus swim right underneath all of the triggers.....We all decided it was time to leave....
