Hit the lake again for some evening musky fishing and some night time bassin. Got on the water around 7:45 ish and once again it didnt take long for some big time action. I was throwing my blue fox musky buck and upon retrieval i saw the big ol' shadow behind my lure so i put my rod tip down in the water and started the figure 8, pulling my spinner around the front of the boat. He didnt hesitate, he came right under the boat and hit it on the other side about a foot away. Fought for a few minutes and got him in. Not as big as the last one but still a hefty fish measuring in at 40" on the dot. By the time all the commotion from this fish was over it was almost dark so we started bass fishing which didnt disappoint either. Landing near 20 bass and missing a bunch more. everyone had fish in the boat so thats a good night. Oh ya and mixed in there somewhere i landed a solid 23" pickerel which we didnt even know were in there. A nice little bonus. Sorry some of the pics are blurry but you get the point.http://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/007-1.jpghttp://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/009-1.jpghttp://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/013.jpghttp://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/014.jpghttp://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/017.jpghttp://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q544/Gatto1227/018-2.jpg

Nice fish man. Nothing is more exciting than getting the big girls to eat on the figure 8. Just be careful fishing for the muskie now. The water temp is getting too high for these fish to be released safely. You've got to be very careful, but again nice fish

The front of my boat is one of the best fishing spots in the state. The back however, is not so good lol. Nice pickerel pal.

Yeah I've seen your posts before about you catching musky and can tell you handle the fish well. Its good to see people are becoming educated on these fish and taking care of them the right way. It really gets your blood pumping though when you see that shadow and dip the rod tip and it just loads up. Nothing beats a muskie in the 8!

Just curious what you guys throw at night when you bass fish. I hit a lot of smaller ponds that hold a lot of fish and everyday the bite seems to shut down at last light. I usually fish fin-s, senkos, and often top waters since they hit them well. I can't figure out why they shut down on me at dark. Any insight would be much appreciated.

i personally was throwing a black senko hooked weedless and i was also throwing a black spinner bait which got me some action. Im pretty new to it myself though this was only my second time night fishing for bass so im pretty sure theres tons more but to my understanding anything black or real dark in color works well

We caught bass on senko's, lizards, spinnerbaits, and jigs. The key was something dark in color with a larger profile or something that caused vibration (big colorado blades). In my experience night bass fishing, it seems that the bite slows down right after dark sets in for maybe an hour or so before it picks up again. Try fishing later if you arent already doing that. Another thing to consider is that sometimes the night bite is slower then the day bite, but the fish quality can be better at night. You may not do great numbers wise, but you probably aren't going to be pulling in any dinks either. Good luck to you, post some lunker pics when you get em!
