Hey guys,
Did some tagging in the Raritan and came across these two sea lampreys digging a nest... Check it out! Pretty neat stuff!

They have been around a long time. Rake lamprey babies out of the mud and you get the best walleye bait there is.

That video is fantastic! There have been lampreys in the Raritan for as long as I can remember.

Aren't you supposed to kill those things cuz they are considered parasitic pests killing fish.

no, the raritan river is part of the native range of the atlantic sea lamprey. they are invasive in the great lakes region, however.

They are food to many fish when they are smaller (and this size for stripers)... All part of the food chain!
