Ok folks, Captain Bob and the Gambler are doing it again in the 2012!
There are 2 trips scheduled this year instead of one:
September 27th thru the 29th which is NOT being offered yet outside of NJ Fishing.com and October 7th thru the 9th which is posted on the boats web site now.
Call the office quick to get your spots reserved for these exciting trips before they are booked up. Don't miss out on the action this year!

Last years trip was SIMPLY AWESOME and I am sure all who went last year have not stopped thinking about it since.

Don't read about it this year, Do it!

How much?

BCinerie
04-01-2012, 04:11 PM
the cost is $595 leave at noon return at noon 3 rd day+-2 hrs!! sept 27-29. A great canyon warrior t-shirt is included. Limit of 20 ppl so there is plenty of room!! I think this year will better ,since we learned a few thing from last year!!! Get on while there is time! and space!! going to be a great trip. I have been bothering Capt since January to book this trip!! I am ready!!!! This trip is the best for targeting Swordfish, tuna and mahi!!! You really have to pick ur time to fish and sleep, since it is so long it is almost impossible to fish the whole time. Sleep on the way out fish like hell sleep a few houtrs and fish like hell some more go to bed and wake up at the inlet!!. The last trip we jigged, chunked for the tuna, pot hopped for mahi and jigged some more, chunked again then jigged at sunrise!!! in other words lots of fishing!!

Charlie Tuna

Sounds like they are close to being all filled up now. First one looks to be full and the second one has quite a few spots taken. Better make the call and get in before it's too late.
Keep in mind that these are limited to 20 per trip and the fare is $595.
There is no other trip out there with this amount of potential fishing time for this price.
The target species are Yellowfin and Longfin with the ever possible bonus of Mahi, Bigeye, swords and if the conditions are right, tiles and all the other canyon critters that may come out to play.

thunder835
04-04-2012, 06:24 PM
I called and added a 3rd person in our group to the October trip. When I called yesterday to book our 2 spots, we were 6 and 7, so today I took spot #8 as well.

BCinerie
04-04-2012, 07:03 PM
I really think the 2 day format might really catch on!!! I would run 1 trip monday return wed and 1 trip friday and return sunday!!! 20-24 person limit at $595 is a steal!!! It gives you 36 hrs of fishing time. What the best thing is , you get the night bite , morning bite, night bite and morning bite again if you need it!!! the 24hr trips really only give you the night chunk, morning bite then your done!!! just my 2 cents!!!!

Both 2 days are sold out . Go on the Gambler Icon on the front page of this site and check out the Offshore schedule . They may have a stand by list for the 2 days . There are still some openings on 1 day trips . I fish 80 lb tackle . I also would bring a Mahi rod that will double for jigging Squid at night .

BCinerie
08-16-2012, 04:47 PM
I would bring no less then 3 outfits, 1 Chunking outfit 50-80lb class, 1 jigging outfit, a little longer then stand up and a little lighter, and a spinniing ouitfit for mahi. Then there are the essentials, hooks 2/0 -8/0 , flouro leaders 40lb to 80lb, egg sinkers 2oz to 8 oz, squid jigs, hgeavy sinkers to drop for tiles, balloons, ball bearing swivels , jigs of various size and styles and the list goes on.

I persoanlly bring 5 outfits.,

1. 6 ft chunking rod with 80 lb test with a 50 tw
2. 6 ft chunjking outfit with a 9/0 reel with 60 lb test
3. 7 ft jig stick with 50 lb mono and a 6/0 size reel
4. 6.5 all purpose type rod with a 4/0 size reel and 50 lb test
5. 6.5 ft mahi outfit with 14lb test /braid and flouro etc

I might add 1- 7 ft light jig stick with a tld 20 reel and 30-40 lb test for fun!!!

Food for 2.5 days , cloths and raingear, boots, I could go on but you get the jist of it!!!

Pennsy Guy

Car is packed and ready to go! Kids to school in am then 9 hrs to the east and will see everyone at the boat! On Thursday . Hopefully the tuna gods will be kind along with the weather gods. What time is everyone getting there? Was planning on 10 am myself? And try to catch some fresh bait off the wall!

I think everyone is sooooooooo ready for this trip!!! NOAA's report looks good NE to SE with 3-5 to 2-4 ft seas and 15-20 down to 10-15 kts. Nasty lady is on vacation-hope she's on an extended vaca...Tropical storm Nadine is still screwing around 2-3 hundred mls off Gibraltar-she's been wandering around the Eastern Atlantic for quite some time now. See you all Thursday AM 10-10:30...one more day....

Sounds like a good trip. It was tuff in the canyon last night...strong current. I'm looking foreward to joining on next Sunday's trip.
Just had a question maybe someone could help with: Does The Gambler have an oven in the galley? I'd like to prep some lasagna and/or casseroles to share with the rest of the crew. Thanks

I'm pretty sure they just have a microwave and an electric griddle.

If the lasagna or pasta is in one of those throwaway tinfoil containers you can slowly heat it on the hot plate set on a low temp. Did that with bakes ziti on a charter once, took a while but worked nicely.

OK, thanks. Maybe I'll make them in a microwave safe dish or something. I'll try to find something disposable so I don't have to do dishes!
