Most lakes are trolling motor only. Probaly plenty of lakes around you with boat ramps, some might be very hard to launch, but there should be plenty. Just pick one, fish it, and report back. Good luck, and again, hope you enjoy your new boat. It will make a huge difference in your fishing.

yeah i saw that on the nj gov site (i think it was that or another site stating E or G on all the lakes)...still good to have the 9.9 tho for lakes that allow gas...i think hopatcong is just electric but i wanna hit that either way...was told about a spot normally passed up there by someone who's seen me at scarlet oak every week and struck up a convo with me this past sunday...says the hybrids are killers at this spot he mentioned...and ill be sure to report back!

hopatcong is definitely not electric only... probably more gas burned there each summer than any other body of water in the state

John,
How big is that bad boy? Be careful on Hopatcong. I'd be iffy about going out in a Jon Boat or a Bass Hound on that lake. I'd want to be in at least a 14-foot Deep-V. It's a big hunk of water with lots of boat traffic, even in the fall. Taking one wake the wrong way could spoil yer day. Do you have an electric on that too? There are a lot of nice lakes that are electric only. Some of 'em don't get hammered as much and can present some quality fishin.

its only a 12'er got the electric trolling and waiting for the gas 9.9 to come back from servicing...im not one of those nut jobs that would go hoppin wakes for fun so im not too worried about where i go...just like on the road, its the others i gotta watch out for, not me...when we hookin up to wet a line?

I write for the magazine on Sundays, so it would have to be a Saturday. I'm fishing the walleye contest on Hopatcong tomorrow, hiking on the 24th, have a wedding to go to in Philly on Oct. 1st, going to a get-together/musky hunt/BBQ on Oct. 8th in PA. We'll hook up one of those Saturdays in the 2nd half of Oct. That's when the best fishing is anyway. We'll hit a good lake, I know a few.;)

got to the DMV this morning at 6:15 (there was a guy standing at the door since 5) got on line at 7, 5th inline, in at 8 out at 8:35...was only able to register the trailer and get the boat endorsement on my DL...couldnt register the boat cuz the guy didnt give me the title, to which he claims he never got, he only had the 'statement of origin' certificate which is what he said HE used to register it...DMV said he has to get a dupe then sign over to me which he can easily do since its been registered before and only has to fill out one small form to get it...oh well, gonna do that next saturday
Sorry to hear that. DMV can be counted on to mess things up. Good luck next week.
johnnyc08
09-24-2011, 03:49 PM
i dont think it was the DMV that messed things up, i just think the guy lost the title and was trying to play it off but now hes gotta go to the DMV as well so if he WAS trying to play it off, it backfired

got all the trailer hitch parts yesterday and today and got them all wired and installed, just tested the wiring harness and all is good and wanted to drop the trailer on the hitch but it wont go low enough...i have a Jeep GCL and the guy i bought it from had an Element...no clue why it wont drop on mine but did on his...gonna go to his place later and measure the height on his hitch and then mine and see what the difference is...why am i feeling 'SS Minnow' with all this crap going on

Make sure you have the correct ball on your hitch, most small trailers are 1 7/8.
johnnyc08
09-28-2011, 05:59 PM
the guy said he had a 2" ball so thats what i got and i checked before putting on and it fit...its the lowering onto the ball thats not happening, the drop is too low and all i can find is a 2" drop
Diddersen
09-28-2011, 10:24 PM
Like this you mean? If its too low just flip it over and put the ball on the other way and it will be a small rise.

Not at all, most are advertised as a 2'' drop or a 3/4'' rise.
And title problems can be messy (especially for a boat), so good luck dude. Where are you at? I'm in Hunterdon, Somerset and Middlesex county and have a ton of experience with towing and boats.

i think the DMV F'D me last week...reading the form they gave me to have the seller fill out it says "This form should be completed by the owner of a vessel or hull purchased prior to the effective date of the Boat Ownership Certificate Act, or purchased out of state, who does not have a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin (which i have) or a Certificate of Ownership.
i presented the MCO and they said i need a title...the wording of the instructions says that i have what i need and has been agreed upon by a few people i asked who know legal mumbo jumbo who run their own business' so i trust them to an extent
and im in bergen...5 minutes from snoopy stadium

I bought my 18' boat from out of state (Delaware) where they don't have boat titles but they do for trailers, which is the exact opposite of NJ. Long story short it took me about a month even with the Cert. of Origin to obtain a NJ title for the boat by getting a notarized bill of sale from the previous owner in Delaware along with his registration records because the boat showed up in the computer as being previously registered so the Cert of Origin was no longer vaild.
Then my 12' row boat (that does not require a title since it is not over 12') that I wanted registered to be able to use with a motor and I didn't have a HIN (hull identification number) so I had to drive the physical boat to port Newark's state police marine division (that was an ordeal just finding it) so they could inspect and verify that it didn't have a HIN, then take the signed paper from the marine police to my local DMV where they assigned me one.
Super long story short..... NJ can be a pain in the ass with used boats and titles/registration.
