Trying to find some depth charts of the lakes I usually or will be targeting (Pompton Lake, Mountain Lake, Spruce Run, etc.). The state has a few listed on their website, but doesnt include the ones I am looking for. Does anyone have any good links?

I have them all for NJ lakes on my lowrance unit with a map chip. The only other way I know to get them is if you have a smart phone like android or iphone you can download an app. I think its navionic that makes it. It was like $12 or $15 but worked great did delaware river and everything.

That book is old... I'm thinking in the 80's or so. NJ lakes survey fishing maps guide? I think that was the name.

I call it the "lake book". Very informative still today. Use it all the time.

So it looks like it was a self-published book, printed by some company called:

Unfortunately the chances of those contact numbers still being good are slim

Exact same book I have. Don't think there a lot of them around still. Very good book though.

Considering how many of our lakes are mud bottomed and full of silt, I'd imagine most 10 year old maps would be of questionable accuracy for a lot of bodies of water.

true, but it gives a general idea of the lake contours... it's not like an open beach, if there's a channel due to an inflow... or points and dropoffs... those are likely to still be there, even if the specific depths are off.

I took an old map of one of my fav NJ lakes fishing for Walleyes with my neighbor last fall, this map I had not used in 35 yrs accuracy in this particular lake within feet - you can alwyas confirm via your sounder if you need to be spot on,but overall unless something drastic has occured to that body of wayter, prtty much the same!! As pointed out contours were the same !
