Damn, looks like a good time! What kind of gear if required for those brutes? I'd been itching to get up there and try my hand at some of those big salmonoids.
When is the season in full swing? Any other info you can throw at me would be great FE.
Thanks,
Matt

8' 6" to 10' 6" salmon, steelhead rod. A rather deep spool that holds alot of line. The fish are very strong this time of year cus they are fresh. The fish are actually on the move as we speak. I use 8 to 10 lb test suffix for the salmon and 6 lb for the steel. Oswego River runs fast and the deep spool is very important so you dont get spooled every time you hook up. My friends and I use alot of fresh eggs and skein. Also we drift alot of flies. Give it a shot its well worth the drive...........FISH-ON :D

Duff don't know how to river fish:D
I liked the 4 lb. for the Steelies in December on the Salmon River, when I was young enough to take the cold:o
The Salmon fishing can be more like opening day Trout around here.... combat fishing.
As Ed sez lots of line capacity is a must. If I hooked 6 fish in one day and landed 1 or 2 it was a great day.:)
You will lose a lot of them, but the runs and the fight are awesome!!

River? What is this "river" you speak of? Never seen one? Can you fish in these so called "rivers"?......:p

Ed, I know what the post meant, just busting balls.

I LOVE trolling. Guessing one of the very few on the site who do. Hit the lake every summer trying to time the run when the bastards are staging in that 120-20 FOW.

Good luck up there. Have done the suicide run before. Sore arms and long boring ride home is always a good road trip.

There was lots of rain up there yesterday so beware.
One of my employees was in Ohio on his way home to NJ yesterday.
He's stuck where RT 80 crosses the Susq. River the road was closed in both directions as of 6 PM last night. The Oswego River is runnig a bit highas well:rolleyes:

Half of Oswego is closed to fisherman due to the drownings that occur every year. Lots of ropes and bouys blocking certain fast water holes. But actually the local Pd is not enforcing the DANGER KEEP OUT signs. The power company there is harrasing anglers as they get in the water and head for the dam. They cant keep people from fishing but there trying very hard. Power company doesnt own the river so keep on fishing! FISH-ON COMIN DOWN!!!:D
