Grew up in Little Ferry right up the road from Indian Lake by Valley Fair. Used to fish as a kid there and usually only caught the typical sunnies and cat fish. Cought a LMB or SMB once, can't remember what kind. Also some trout. Its probably been close to 15 plus years since I fished the lake and I know its not the same. Has anyone gone there recently?

I fished it growing up and have a friend who still fishes there. I think it prob hasn't changed much. Sunnies, carp, white perch, catfish, trout during stocking season and the occasional bass.

dam i looked at that pic too and didn't read it fully. I didn't think all those fish were still in the lake. Water has gotten sooooo foggy/merky over the last few years it just looks gross. You used to be able to see the bottom out in front of the dock.

And yes they did remove alot of shopping carts, those newspaper stands and plastic/metal garbage cans/barrels.

Has anyone had a run in with that monster snapping turtle?

I think that some of the water clarity issues may be the result of all the rain we've been having. That and goose crap.

It never clears up. And there are nowhere near the amount of geese at the park like there have been years ago. But either way its good to know there's life in it.

you are correct sir, i go there all the time mainly cuz its close and gas is just too damn much to go anywhere else really, my best day was last week with 10...a mix of cats, perch, crappies and sunnies...as the day went on, the fish got smaller and then stopped...was using worms (nightcrawlers) on one rod by the lillies and a 1/4 oz rat L trap (colored no chrome) on the other...caught 5 on each...ive caught trout there as well but not since week 3 of the season even though i see some big ones jumping every once in awhile and caught a HUGE eel that snapped my line 3' out of the water (had to of been around 3' long and THICK as hell) theres also some big carp in there (saw one guy catch him on a spinner of all things...still trying to figure that one out) and LMB (dont think theres any SMs in there)...i like it cuz i can get there fast kill a few hours and head home without worrying about traffic...planning on going somewhere in ringwood soon with a friend and his 12' bass boat once his tranny gets fixed since i dont have a hitch...BTW mark, we gotta get together and fish soon...was good seeing you the other day (circumstances could have been better tho)

There you are John.

Yeah, I was actually pretty amazed to see that you pulled crappie from there. I couldn't get a 100-percent ID, but I think they may have actually been white crappie. I'm not the best to tell them apart, white crappie and black crappie kind of look the same to me, but they looked a little more pale.

I don't think I've seen too many white crappie. I never fish for panfish and don't quite understand it. Crappie may as well be bait. Big catfish love panfish.:D

I was in Little Ferry saturday to visit my mother and decided to walk around the lake with the wife and baby. I just had surgery so it was nice to get out on a nice day. Only 1 person fishing the lake, was very surprised.

Anyway I saw 2 of those bubble eyed looking goldfish swimming around near the shore. A huge pod of orange carp/koi, atleast 16 i counted. The biggest surprise were the sheer number of turtles, and not snappers. These were tiny little things with color on there heads and shells. Wife startled a huge group sunning themselves on a patch of dirt. Once they scattered into the water I counted 9, pllus the 20 plus I had already seen in the water or along the shores.

I was hoping to see the snapping turtle that is like a manhole cover swimming in the water its that big.
