I hit a spot on the Passaic this morning that I scouted out a couple months ago. The last time I was there, the river was really high and unfishable, but today, despite being a little stained, it was perfect. I walked up the shoreline alternating between a jointed firetiger Bomber Long-A and a chartreuse/white Booyah spinnerbait. I finally had something smack the Bomber at the surface and the next cast he bit it clean off. I figured the fish had a mouthful of trebles and wouldn't bite again but the first cast with the Booyah and he nailed it!!! My blood was pumping and I would have loved to have stayed all day, but I got stuff to do.

Congrats man!

I've put a ton of time in on the Passaic for pike with not much to show for it. I've turned my attention to focusing on them at Pompton Lake this year, but ill be back on the river oonce the water drops a little.

Funny, last year I read about Pike in the Passaic and was blown away. I live all of a half mile from the river in Nutley. Several days later, I hopped in the car and drove to Garfield, where it took me all of 10 minutes to hook up and land the first Pike of my life! Of course, I've probably been back 10 times and have yet to catch another......

Has anyone ever come across the picture on line of a Pike someone supposedly caught by the ramp between Nutley and Lyndhurst? Thing looks to be about 8 feet long (???).

Fished the Passaic in Wayne on Sunday with my little guy. I had small bass bang my lure almost every cast but no hook-ups. While fishing I saw some large splashes that I initially thought were carp but then with a couple of those splashes I saw smaller fish jumping for their life. Also saw some small pike maybe 4-5" very close to shore. Hysterical part of the day was when I slipped on the bank in the mud and half way into the drink. LOL!!!

I live in Nutley as well and have DEFINETLY seen the picture you are talking about. I have fished from that ramp a few times....nothing but white perch and a few small stripers.
