I was wondering if anyone has any experience fishing up there. I'm staying in Ithaca. I know theres salmon in the lake and some big trout around and those are two fish I have very little experience with. If you know of some spots to check out I would really appreciate it also. Glad to see the stripers are finally here!!

That area is just absolutely beautiful. We've never fished the finger lakes, but we fish lake Ontario a few weeks every year. Pretty much the same techniques. Check out lakeontariounited.com. lots of good info there and a great bunch of guys. There's also a forum specifically for the finger lakes.

I was at Seneca a month or so ago and the guys were fishing for Landlocked Salmon off the breakwalls and docks. That's all I know.

Tuna my x home waters was Seneca southend and if your shorebond I would try Senecas southwest conner in Watkins Glen, Salt plant road. Cast small metal or use live smelt. Sorry but it's been a while and I forgot the name of the baitshop in Watkins Glen but the guys there are helpfull. I'm less familar with Cayuga But theres a statepark halfway up the westshore with good access. It's prime time about now with landlocks on top and lakers mixed thru the water collum. Also the Gazebo in Watkins Glen is good when not crowded.

Forgot to mention that rainbows might still be spawning in the creeks. Try for them right below the falls in Ithaca. That might be your most convienent option and bows over 5lbs are comen.

Salt plant rd is on Senecas southwest corner. About 1 or 2 miles up the west shore from Watkins Glen. Little Cleos are the spoon most used.

The gorge at Watkins Glen is a worth while walk.
