Doesn't everyone remember picking nightcrawlers with a flashlight? (My mom helped me once.......only once!) How about digging for manure worms in, you guessed it, a farmer's horse manure pile? Did you ever catch minnows in a clear glass jar? How about those worms you can find under piles of leaves? You know, the ones that fall apart when you put them on a hook. How about those trout in the Musky behind the "Orange Pit" that would eat hot dog rolls and french fries! Didn't you ever turn over your garden and look for worms. How about using a homemade hellgrammite seine made from window screens? Catching frogs and crayfish was almost as much fun as fishing. Where do kids get their bait today?
Mousees and spikes for ice fishing.

goldfish - the small size like fatheads. Work just as good as fatheads. Check your local fishstore

European Nitecrawlers. Smaller than Canadian or Cemetery nightcrawlers, but bigger than redworms. Very temperature tolerant--no need to keep them in the wifes fridge. Stay lively in both fresh and saltwater--used them last year for snapper blues.

Don't get caught using goldfish........HIGHLY ILLEGAL.
Really don't need them when you can get certified disease free shiners at the bait store.
