Five of us hit the South Branch and another Hundterdon County creek today. It rained, but we were the only ones there. High hook had 7 or 8 fish and I had the pool winner with the fish pictured. The other guys were fly-fishing and I bested this beast with my 5-foot UL Loomis with a 500 Shimano Symetre, 4-lb. test P-line fluorclear, a 1/16th black jighead tipped with a whole nightcrawler. It swam right into the fast South Branch current and took me a good 5 minutes to get myself and him to shore. It peeled out drag a good 3 o 4 times. What a blast. I had a few more little rainbows on another creek later in the day and after I left one of the boys scored a 15-inch wild brown that apparently did some aerials. Great day.
