View Full Version : Peapack Brook Complaint sent to NJ F&G
Got to Peapack-Gladstone by 9:00 am. Two places very near each other I fish have posted trout signs. You can see the fish in each spot very clearly because this brook is very shallow. The same three fish I've caught and released several times were in one spot. Two rainbows and one very small brown trout. The other spot has four small rainbows which I have caught and returned on one ocassion last week. The stocking truck never arrived today. I kept fishing and watching all day until 6:00 pm. The brook was suppose to be stocked today according to the schedule listed. What prompted me to e-mail F&G was the following scenerio. Two young boys who I have fished with before at this spot arrived as I was leaving. I had to tell them to fish somewhere else because the spot wasn't stocked today. I felt terrible when I saw the look on their faces. And it made me angry that someone didn't do their job and caused disappointment to two youngsters who were all pumped up to fish. I explained the situation to the driver, one of the boys mother. She agreed. They went somewhere else to fish. I hope I get an answer and find out why the trout weren't stocked today.

My father stocks for the state and I can tell you - nothing fishy goes on when it comes to stocking anymore..
They get there routes, and where the fish are to be designated and they dump them in
My father had a run yesterday, sussex cty run, so I am thinking it was small brooks and lakes taht were getting stocked.
I do have to admit, that opening day was the worst I have seen in quite sometime, but its not for a lack of stocking.

I fished there from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. No truck showed up. You can look in the pools and see all the fish. Believe me, I've been there stocking days. They put about 15-20 trout in each pool. Nada yesterday.

The man was there......no fish as he said.
I received an answer to my e-mail which is being forwarded to the stocking superintendent. I'm glad someone took the time to listen. I'm impressed that I received a response. Will see what else happens at the next level. After that, not much can be said or done.

Please keep us informed because I have experienced the same problem on several streams.

i remember one time the trucks broke down and they had to dump all the trout into one area of the pennypack here in philly but thats a big creek just thought maybe they put everything in another area? or maybe the cormorants hijacked the truck
