Took the 15-minute drive from the office to the falls at Hockhockson Brook this afternoon on my lunch break. When I got there, the two other people fishing said that the truck just showed up 1/2 hour ago. Jackpot! :) One guy had to leave as soon as I started fishing. The other guy was alternating between spinners and power cheese.
I started fan-casting a white Mr. Twister, caught one right away, then nothing for several minutes. Finally, I found the "spot within the spot" and started hooking up every other cast for the next 15 minutes. All brookies, ranging from 9-12 inches, all released in good condition. I fished for another 20 minutes, but it seems like I cleaned all the stupid ones out of there. :D Me and the other guy left at the same time, he had two trout on his stringer.
I was there for 45 minutes, and caught nine trout, most of which were in that 15-minute bonanza. Not too shabby for a lunch break, and it built up my trout-catching mojo in preparation for the West Branch this weekend.
