Hit Brady Bridge today from about 11 to 12:30. Managed only one perch...about 10 inches...and had one pickerel follow the Rapala all the way to shore, took one swipe at it and missed it. Really cold out there today with the wind. Definitley did not feel like the 52 degrees they were forecasting at all. Only saw one boater out there, and had a beaver cruising up and down by the bridge the whole time we were there. Nice day to be out, first fish of the year caught...and hoping to go next weekend again.

Try this technique for pickeral. Twitch twitch pause, twitch pause, twitch twitch pause. It works. Erratic retrieves work best for pickeral. When they hit it, they slash at it. Keep at it, pickeral, perch, and crappies are the most active fish this time of year. When you find them and get them to hit, this kind of fishing can be fast and furious. I have been doing well since Febuary on perch and pickeral. I catch these fish all winter as long as the water is open, it get's better as the water gets warmer however. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips AJ...caught the perch today with a small Rapala doing exactly that. The pickerel came in the same way too...was PM'ing Bunker Dunker for a few tips too. Did really well there last year with the crappies, but when I got them good last year, it was towards April, and not in March. Last year, we got them on fatheads under a bobber. Got a kayak this year, and I am getting it tomorrow...and will be in that location for most of April and May. I just had to get out there today...I just wish it was a little warmer.

I start catching crappies down where I live in March but the water is probaly too cold up there to do so. I have heard alot about fishing that lake, and Im definetely gonna give it another shot this year. Good luck, and I hope you catch lots of fish.
