Chris L, Nick N and I set sail in the AP on Round Valley today. The forecast was grim, but we went out and stuck it out in some nasty wind and cold for a good 5 or 6 hours. While we were waiting for Nick, Chris set out the trolling rods and we hooked a nice 16 1/2-inch rainbow in the launch cove on a 2-oz. firetiger Krocodile in minutes. That's usually a bad sign and it was. Despite our best efforts, that would be the only fish for the day. We marked lots of fish, but no takers. Thanks to Chris for inviting me out on the AP's first voyage of 2011. It was great to get a rod bent in open water 13 days into March.

It's good you got out, good to be with your friends. The memories you have will sure outlast the fish you caught.

Nice job on the Bow.

I was out there today too. Very crowded on the shore and I had some stupid fool who showed up an hour after I did decide to lay-out bait on 3 rods and encroach within 10 feet of me when I was just using 1 rod and lures into the wind. He got yelled out for doing the same thing on the shore so he decided to hit the rocks and pull it one me. I'm just going to have to avoid the boatramp for awhile and hike out to Rangers Cove for some quality "me" time.

I had the skunk, just managed one decent bite on a 3" grub on a new-style jighead I wanted to try out. I did see 2 guys land trout around 7:30 this morning but that was it, I didn't see anything cruise by.

Wilson; No kidding on that weather forecast for today. Windy and cold. Ah well, at least I got to wet some lines.

I heard the guys jigging are doing VERY good.

Nice you got out on a cold and windy March day.

Think Spruce Run for pike !

Think Spruce Run for pike !

Will need some leader but that's not a bad idea at all.

That's what next weekend is for... More fishing!

Where is the water is right!!!

Moz and Wilson, I wish that I would have known you guys were there. It's always nice to put a face to the names.

Andy, jigging was out. We dropped anchor and just dragged it. We tried bait out of the wind, but we couldn't hold in the deeper water so that was out.

And Salt Man, love the philosophy. I love being outside with good people. Fish are gravy.

Lots of shore anglers, would have been too many for me. I got there at 6:45 am and there were already a half-dozen guys camped out.

I was hanging in the Ranger Cove,...did not stay long. Was surprised to see a fair amount of fishermen out.

We must have crossed paths. Did you see three guys trolling in a sexy black fiberglass boat?

I checked it out yesterday. SR is full but temps are still 40 degrees. We're still a 10 degrees off from good Pike fishing.

Not that I recall, but I'm half blind anyway;)
