Decided to spend the day up north. First hit the Small pond off struble rd (fly fishing only) and caught 2 pike and 2 yellow perch around 10" or so. Wind was too strong so went to find new places to hit the Big Flatbrook (which was screaming) when the water conditions were better and found several new spots. Noone around at all except me, the river, the birds and oh yeah, 1 decent size bear-exit stage right quickly! Took a couple of casts since i was there but nada.
Then hit a pond near the Walpack Inn and had lots of fun catching about 20 or more decent Crappie in a short time before dark. Used a 1 wt. fly rod with 7x tippet (thanks, Andy!) and had lots of fun.
Enjoyed the day immensely just be out there (Lard, you were right!). I love that part of the state. The larger lakse are all still partially frozen but I have some favorite ponds that i hit and they were all fishable if not clear. Next week, maybe hit my favorite spots near Beemerville and see if the bass are stirring
