Lard Almighty
03-12-2011, 07:38 PM
Location: Deal Lake, Interlaken and Loch Arbor, NJ
Date: Saturday, March 12, 2011
Time: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Weather: Sunny, 55 F, Moderate wind from SW
Water: Murky, visibility fair
Target Species: Largemouth Bass
Rod: Renegade Pro Series RRC661MH
Reel: Browning Six Rivers SR20H
Line: Berkeley Big Game 20 lb. mono, green
Lures: Spinnerbait, double willow, silver/shad; Rat-L-Trap, chrome/blue back
Started at the upper lake in Interlaken, tagged two bass about 1.5 lb. each next to the spillway on the spinnerbait, no other hits. Moved down to the main lake, nothing on the spinnerbait around the boat launch and along the railroad tracks. Switched over to the trap and poked around the seawall at the outflow, no action. Called it a day once the wind really started whipping.
Water was pretty dirty, but fishable. What few fish I saw were extremely shallow, likely trying to warm themselves in the sun. The bass bite is a lot better now than it was this time last year, hopefully it means an excellent 2011 season.
