After yesterdays storm the Atlantic Highlands Harbor looks like a war zone!!

Winds over 60 MPH took out a good portion of the commuter pier as well as Dock boxes and planking on all piers.
All the signs for the Party Boats except 2 are gone....drove through around
3pm yesterday, it looked like the ocean.
I guess most of the damage occured at High tide because all the signs were there at that time....What a mess!!!

Ron - A question for you.. Do those 2 fixed docks closest to the opening where the ferry comes in get hammered pretty regularly? A friend of mine got a slip on one of them this year. Should he be concerned ?

If he is out toward the end, it gets pretty sporty out there....although, most of the Harbors damage comes this time of year, not in the Summer months.
March has always been the worse month for as long as I can remember.

a friend of mine had a slip on that dock last year and his boat got pounded!!

all are on a fixed dock an a total pain in the ass at low tide to get gear on an off boat .needless to say he is out of there this year!

My Buddy Kept His Boat Right Around There Last Year ( The Chumbox) He Upgraded Boats This Winter And Luckily Moved His Slip To The Other Side Of The Pb's

I was in atlantic city past couple days for convention and yesterday around 1 pm the entrance glass wall to the borgata ( approx 25 foot high 60 foot wide ) seamed to be flexing from wind and water was seeping through the plate glass seams after watching it for couple minutes i realized it was pretty stupid to be standing there

Gerry Iam on that pier and i love the location. I dont know where his slip is but with the NE winds April thru Dec i find it to be some what protected. The charter boats and the ferrys keep the wind from blowing my boat around. The commuters pose more of a pain in the rear for me. If their not throwing beer bottles on my boat post commute or complaining about rods on the handle down the middle its always somthing. On a better note a nice low tide and a good west wind in the summer makes that pier interesting for some of the more attractive commuters lol!!

Went to check out the marina at the Atlantic Highlands after a visit with my mom and as Ron said it looks like a war zone. Also saw people looting boat boxes, what a shame. A real free for all. But what goes around comes around as the saying goes. Saw Captain George checking on the Angler, the only boat at the dock. The Dorothy B, and the Sea Tiger are the only signs standing.

Was down to S Jersey today with Matt, got a call from good fRiend Capt Mike "hey know your new dock at the Clam Hut?Well it is gone".

Mother Nature and the Ol Man in the Sea took it out. Thank God noone was injuried and no boats were in.

Hope is will be ready by Splash Day, waiting to hear.

This was as bad as I have seen it in a long time.

Sewaren got hit pretty good also.If you see a chest freezer floating it is full of clams. That was some tidal surge. All the way up to the top of the parking lot.Better now than in May!

Not ocean related, but in my town an office building lost its entire roof. And by me a 20' tall tree cracked about 5 feet up on it's base and landed in the middle of the street. Right by my store a huge tree ripped up the entire sidewalk and fell neatly between two homes each with cars parks outside. People are so lucky there it isn't even funny. Just a nightmare everywhere.

I heard that the bait store in the Leonardo State Marina lost part of it's roof too...

Where are the rest of the boats, or are they gone in the winter?

Everyone pulls out of the Harbor for the winter....Just for this reason.
Way too many nights spent up the river in past years. Now it cost us an additional $3,000 a year to keep our boats safe!!!!
