We only have NINE conservation officers assigned to marine enforcement, in a state with 9 million residents, 1.4 million anglers and one of the top commercial ports in the nation. This fact makes the laws listed worthless.

Laws are made to keep honest people honest. It wouldn't make a difference if we had 900 or 9,000 COs those that want to break the laws will. Just as those that want to decive and hide will. Right Ken? Rather than try to berate those on this site, that are working toward a common goal, why not use your "brilliance" on the politicians to obtain better funding to protect our wildlife?

Please, It was nice that Gerry took the time to list the fines. I was not trying to berate anyone! Thankfully the majority of people are honest. The problem lies with the percentage that are not honest. Just one poacher with a commercial net can devastate an entire fish population. Fish and game needs funding! NJ needs a salt water fishing license to fund law enforcement and to hire fish biologist.Money is also need for studies that are required to claim New Jersey fare share of the fish stocks. All the surveys and internet polls indicate that over 95% of NJ anglers support a salt water license. The RFA opposed the salt water license, most likely out of fear of reduced participation in salt water fishing. They always go for the short term economic benefited over long term sustainable.

And there it is folks, Kensdock, uh I mean bennyslanding, uh I mean fried flounder's real motives.

In a thread TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THE RFA AND A SALTWATER LICENSE he brings up the license, and lies about mystical surveys then mentions a handful of internet polls that account for less than 1/10 of 1% of anglers in the state and pretends those numbers are somehow indicative of reality.

Then, he takes yet another opportunity to pretend he knows something about RFA's motives (which he does not) then berrates them again.

You sir know nothing of which you speak, and at least now everyone else knows it.

Go bother someone else on a different board, we have serious issues to contend with here and don't need your mindless attempts to even further divide the recreational fishing community. You could not be more incorrect if you tried with your "description" of the RFA, it's motives behind a SWL and it's past and present moves towards the present AND the future.

Funny, I and RFA and others were involved in a series of meetings with groups from all over the state about a SWL, but I never saw you there:rolleyes:

Tony, You are a good public speaker and you do an outstanding job pushing the agenda of your Charter and party boat association.Unfortunately, you and the RFA are out of touch with the NJ recreational angler.I see you are comfortable preaching to the quire but annoyed if someone offers a different view.

I learned a long time ago that change takes place from within. I have disagreed with both Jim & Hutch on several occaisions. But, unlike you, I have no personel vendetta agaist either so I don't see the need to continue to divide the fishing community further I will keep disagreeing and discussing until change can be effected on all fronts. While you serve no purpose but to attempt to further divide with false numbers and facts. If you think you are going to bring about change with your methods you are sadly mistaken.

Well said. I have worked with Jim D for nearly a decade, and can say he and I most certainly have not agreed on 100% of the things we have dealt with. The majority, but certainly not 100%. As I said to Kensdock in another thread, if you can find me a group or organization that you agree with 100% of the time on 100% of the details of 100% of the issues, I'd love to hear about them.

Interesting, seeing as how every person that fishes on our boats are recreational anglers, so I see and speak to thousands of them every month. In addition, RFA has thousands of NJ anglers (I forget the number, but it's more than a few thousand) as members.

So exactly who are they out of touch with?

I don't get annoyed at different views, just lies, misinformation and personal attacks with ulterior motives. Disagreeing with or pointing out the flaws in a differing point of view is not getting annoyed either, except perhaps to the person being corrected :D

Have a nice day Ken, hopefully the weather in your world is nicer than it is out here in reality.
